Principal Explorer

With over a decade of experience in the fraud prevention and cybersecurity realms, Ness is our go-to guru for all things analytical. Her mission at Distant Field Labs is to craft insights that empower decision-makers with actionable intelligence. Her other missions involve anything caffeinated and cheese.

Before co-founding Distant Field Labs, Vanessa led a dynamic team of Delivery Managers at CyberCX. Prior to this, she earned her security stripes in Security Operations and Vulnerability Management analysis.

Before diving headfirst into the tech world, Vanessa wore many hats, including palliative biographer, emergency medical dispatcher, production planner, museum host, and more customer-centric roles than anyone has time to read about. She values soft skills above any technical learning and will absolutely fight you on that.

Mark is a seasoned computer enthusiast and cybersecurity expert, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to Distant Field Labs. As our Co-founder and Principal Explorer, Mark is known for his passion for communicating complex technical subjects to all types of audiences.

Before co-founding Distant Field Labs, Mark held several leadership roles at CyberCX. He initially stepped in as Executive Director of Managed Security Services, where he led initiatives to build out platforms, onboard customers, and develop the Security Operations Centre as part of CyberCX’s global strategy. He later moved to Executive Director of Solutions Innovation, where he worked with global teams to create new services.
Mark was a founding member of Insomnia Security, working for over a decade to establish a world-class offensive security consulting firm, developing a top-tier Red Team, and fostering the growth of security consultants.

Earlier in his career, Mark dove headfirst into IT and security in many forms, including Senior Systems Administrator at Catalyst IT, Principal Security Consultant at Security-Assessment.com. It wasn’t all IT though, he also acquired some elite fruit-stacking skills at New World. Mark is widely known for his diminutive stature and for being terribly serious about everything.
